I was searching for service support for Cannon printers. I entered "Service support for cannon printer" into Google search engine. The company Vtechsquad was the first to come up, so I called them. A female answered, I told her that I was having a problem with my Cannon printer. I explained my problem with the printer. "She asked if my printer was hooked up to my computer. I said yes. She then said she would be glad to help me, but she would need access to my computer so she could see the printer drivers. She gave me this login address of logmein123.com, then she gave me a 6 digit code to enter. After entering this 6 digit code she had access to my computer. She began going through my computer and explaining to me that my computer had been hacked and all files were corrupted. I said I am calling about a problem with my Cannon printer not my computer. Then she became very indignant and said your computer has to be serviced before your printer will work.

I then said "please log out of my computer now." She kept going on and on about my computer being hacked and all my files being corrupted, then she puts a man on the phone. I told him to log out of access to my computer. He asked me "what was my problem?" He said that I needed to pay $169.00 to have my computer fixed while still going through the files on my computer. I immediately shut down my computer to disconnect from Vtechsquad.

I later called back to talk to someone about their scam of logging into my computer and looking at files when all I wanted was help with my printer. The man who answered asked, "who did I speak with?" I said "Teresa" He said "there is no one here by that name, have a good day" and hung up the phone.
