I was contacted and told I could get a loan for $2,000 if I submitted a payment through a Green Dot reload card of $185 and the money would be in my account within an hour of submitting the payment. Over an hour passed, and no account transfer. I was then told I needed to submit an additional $315 for additional insurance fees, and they would transfer the money. After several phone conversations, a couple of them heated, I finally was told my loan could not be approved. I then asked for a refund of my initial $185 payment, and was told I had to purchase a specific type of prepaid VISA card, of which I never heard of, in order for them to refund my money. I told them I already had a prepaid card, but they refused my attempt to give them the number to transfer my funds back to me. Please help.

We saw your post and would like to respond. The call you received was not from GE. GE Capital provides private label and bankcard credit programs. We do not provide personal loans via the purchase or use of prepaid money cards, nor do we call or email potential customers to request personal information to establish prepaid cards or personal loans, nor do we charge application fees.
What you detail in your complaint appears to be an attempt to fraudulently obtain money. More information is available at www.ftc.gov.
