A magazine salesman by the name of Anthony Sparks approached me when I was in the front yard of my house. He was selling magazine subscriptions and told me he was trying to make a better life for himself and his young daughter. He was friendly, kind, and seemed sincere. Unfortunately, it was all an act and he was a con artist. I bought the Family Fun magazine from him for $20 with a check. He tried to charge me a $15 processing and handling fee, but I refused to pay that, so he let me have the subscription for $20. The magazine has not shown up 7 months later. The phone number and website shown on the receipt are bogus. I don't know if he is a one-man scamming show or if he is part of a larger group.
