I received a call from Central Periodical Service regarding my supposed 5 year renewal of a magazine. I told the person I was talking to that I didn't want to renew anything, and that I wanted to cancel any subscriptions. He put me on the phone with a manager who had the authority to do the cancelling. She went thru the process 3 times, how she would record and ask questions and that it was very important that I answer "yes" to all the questions except the last question which I was to clearly state that I wish to cancel all subscriptions. She also explained that the questions are confusing but I must answer "yes" otherwise they would have to start the entire process all over. As i was working from home and very busy I did not want to go thru this all over. She also told me that she would come back on the line, give me a confirmation number and answer any questions. After the recording the line went dead. On 4-11-13 I received a confirmation from this company stating I had ordered 7 magazines, 4 were for a 5 year subscription and 3 for a one year subscription. The total due was $1,197 and they would charge my credit card $39.90 a month for the next 30 months. I checked with my credit card and they had already charged one month. I put a stop on my credit to any charges from this company. On 4-12-13 I called and talked to the company to have them STOP/Cancel the magazines and credit my credit card. I was informed that they would do so by a Brian at 1-800-247-8080. The magazines that they had said I ordered were never discussed in any conversation at any time. I do not know who selected those magazines but they were not selected by me or anyone in my household. Plus at the beginning of the original call they said it was a renewal. How could I renew magazines I had never received????
