This scam was through Ebay & PayPal. This person purchased a pair of shoes from me on Ebay in Nov, 2012. I was paid through PayPal on Nov. 20, 2012. I promptly shipped out the shoes. I uploaded the tracking information to Ebay, tracked it and saw that it was delivered. I never heard a word until about 10 days ago. I received a message through PayPal about a chargeback. This person claimed it was an unauthorized charge through her credit card, and I am now to defend myself. Unfortunately Ebay and PayPal not not keep tracking information beyond 60-90 days. They purge details of transactions; they do not even label/code it as something that had tracking info and was delivered, which is how I received full access to my funds through PayPal. They rely on tracking info to resolve chargebacks, but do not keep this info in their system for very long. Just when this info is purged is when a challenge to the charge was placed, 4 months later this she brings this up with her credit card. As I did not keep the tracking receipt this long and am unable to obtain it, I have lost that money and must pay an additional fee. This person clearly knew what they were doing as demonstrated by the timing of the chargeback. It is not a large amount but it comes at a time when I am struggling. The worst as it is clear to Ebay and PayPal that I have been scammed, but because I cannot produce a tracking number 4 months later, and they don't keep that information, they will not back me up. I do not have a just resolution.
