I received a letter today with a check in it. Being the curious and leery person I am, I got on the internet and found this website. I wanted to pass this information onto others also so that hopefully others will look at before they do anything. I will not be doing anything with the letter I received.

- I received a similar letter and check a few days ago. Suspecting it was a scam, I called Citi Bank to ask if they were aware that large amount checks from their financial insitution are being sent all over the country. I was told the acct number for Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP is a valid one and that my next step should be to contact them. I intend to do just that - and then to notify the authorities of this obvious scam. No way would I take this to my bank to cash, especially after having read some of the horror stories on this site. I wonder what happened to the two I read about who cashed their checks at WalMart and a check cashing place?
