Mediacom is my cable TV provider. Lately it has stopped providing closed captioning on at least 2 cable channels--WFSU/PBS in Tallassee and ESPN. My wife and I have hearing difficulty and so we depend upon closed captioning to enjoy the programs we prefer. I was told by a customer service rep, in effect, that it must be my sets that are at fault and not their cable system. It seems that they broadcast their HD channels with CC, but not all their analog channels and therefore I should buy 4 HD-capable TV sets. I distinctly remember that the FCC legislation requires all cable channels to be CC-capable.
