International boundaries
Individuals with Indian accents called and informed me that they needed to check to ensure the software I purchased contained protection for a new virus. I allowed them access and they processed a report listing numerous (tens of thousands) violations of my security. They charged me $199 to install updated security software. It required several hours. I had experienced zero problems with my computer prior to allowing these people access to the computer. The next day, my computer no longer worked. I ended up having to purchase a new computer since the cost of repairing the damage was too high.
