This details my experience with Itechline.
This summer 2012 I purchased a Dell 660 Inspiron Computer from Costco Online. Two weeks after I installed it, it started crashing, giving me a Blue Screen. I spoke to Costco a few times and they tried trouble shooting the problem, then I attempted to go to Dell directly as there was a 1 year warranty on my computer.
On Nov. 28, 2012, in the process of contacting Dell through the Internet I was directed to Itechline services, and spoke to Paawan Nagdev. Paawan said ITechline is a part of the Dell Tech Support Network but that I needed to pay them $199.99 to fix the computer and to observe it for three months. I questioned why I needed to pay for their services; he said that the warranty was for hardware, not software. I paid the fee as I was concerned about the problem. Paawan asked to take control of my computer by remote, he ran a diagnostic test scanning all my registry files. He told me that the files are colored based on type. Yellow files – Spyware, Blue files - can’t remember, and red files would be Trojan viruses. He showed me red files on my computer and told me there was three Trojan Viruses trying to establish connections to my computer. He put Kamal as my tech person and I spent over 6 weeks on and off with her as the computer continued to crash when I was printing every so often but not all the time. She did lots of things to the computer during that time (installed new anti-malware, took off Kaspersky and Irfanview software- said they carry viruses etc.) and I was told I still had “corrupted” files and I needed to get the Windows CD to reinstall the software. This is when I went back to Costco and eventually discovered that Itechline are crooks and they are NOT fixing computers but creating a lot of problems.
I finally have resolved my situation with Costco Online as they have agreed to give me a refund for the computer.
On Jan 18, 2013, I did an internet search on Itechline that afternoon and I have found six websites that have consumer complaints about ITechline services that are very similar to mine. For example, ITechline fraudulently represented themselves as third party to Norton, requesting a wide variety of payments from people to “fix” their computers. Many of the complaints are exactly what I have experienced.
