My 76 yr old mother received a Check for 4500.00 claiming that she had won some unknown lottery. Check was a real check however before calling the number back per their instructions, I first called the Bank in which the Check was written off of to verify the account number was valid. And imagine my surprise the account number did not exist. I then called the company that sent the letter and check and spoke to a MR. James Robinson who get very angry with me when I told him i first verified the acoount with the Bank on the check itself. He abruptly hung up on me, which is when i called again. Mr. Robinson (647) 878-4440, then began to yell and curse me and proceeded to hang up yet again. Me being stubborn I then called him back ( btw the number on the letter is listed as a cell phone number and not a business) Amazing what all you can find with Google. Anyway the third call is when Mr. Robinson decided to call me names. I informed him that i would be contacting the FBI and turning the fraudulant check over to them ( per instructions from the bank). Hopefully it may deter these scam artists from preying on more people. I know it won't stop them but maybe slow them down. Google is your friend and anyone can call a bank to verify funds on a check you receive. Please beware.
