Complaint 201741 Details

I was a guest at the Boulder Station Casino enjoying a night of fun and gaming. I told my husband I would call him when I was ready to be picked up from the casino. As the night passed I notice my cell phone had died but became comfortable when I was able to find a pay phone on the property. The payphone said 50 cents for local calls...I tried putting the coins into the slot which the coins fell right out. I attempted using the other pay phone and couldn't get a dial tone. So I decided to dial 0 to place a local collect call which my call was successfully transferred but was dropped. So I dialed 0 again and this time the call was successfully placed. However when I received my phone bill for these 2 calls under 3 minutes I was charged 10.00 a minute totaling over 65.46 to be exact for two 3 minute phone calls. I feel ripped off and taken advantage of. I was forced to use this pay phone which was broken, then forced to dial 0 and never was I informed a local call would run 10.00 a minute. I complained to the Boulder Station about their lack of customer service in providing working pay phones for their customers and then allowing a service to be on their premise that would take advantage of their guest. The casino management refused to accept any responsibility for their payphones not even enough to say they would investigate the problem. Therefore I am seeking remedy from your office to find out are these phones regulated and how can they get away with charging 10.00 a minute for local calls. This is highway robbery at it's finest and I will do everything to expose and close down a business of this nature that is taking advantage of innocent people who fall into their greedy trap.
