My grandmother was contacted by this John Spencer guy at her home phone number and told she had won 2.5 million dollars and a brand new Mercedes-Benz. He told her she would have to supply her "agent" (John Spencer) with $10,000 to pay for insurance on the car and taxes on the winnings. He also made a point of scaring my grandmother into withholding information on this matter from her loved ones, including myself. She was convinced if others knew of her winnings, she would be made a target. Spencer demanded she change her home phone number (her # for 50 years!)and that she give him her cell # for further instructions. He directed her to transfer money through Western Union. After the company denied the request to transfer on the basis that it was fraud, my grandmother was directed to purchase green dot cards from the local Wal-Mart. Being simple country folks, my grandparents didn't have the funds for this sorry bastard, so she maxed out her credit card for a total of $9,573.00. The whole time Spencer kept telling her not to tell ANYONE about the situation. The money was sent to 3 different individuals with 3 different addresses. Now he's asking for $55,000 for some other b.s. excuse...My grandma got stressed over this whole bit and decided to confide in me. Immediately upon her telling me, I notified the local sheriff's department and together we filed a report. John Spencer is still calling and demanding more money, but we're ready to cut our losses and tell him about himself. We just hope the Lord has the deepest darkest hottest spot reserved for him in hell.
