We got a check in the mail for $2,950 as part of a $50,000 sweepstakes and because the drawing takes place in the United Kingdom she was supposed to send $1,920 via Western Union to cover the taxes overseas. Now we couldn't process it because of the holiday. My brother-in-law called the number on the letter and was told the check was valid but to call back on Thursday December 27. We won't cash the check after reading the complaints already filed. How can we stop this scam? The name of the company on our check is Texas Security General Insurance Agency, INC and the check is drawn against Frost National bank in San Antonal Bank. The bank exists, but out 10 locations 9 are ATMs.
