Complaint 162643 Details

Purchased a license to download the Home Premium Edition of Windows 7. After creating an account with TechWorldSavings I was redirected to SoftwareSupportCenter. on initiation of the download purchase was immediatedly upgraded to Windows 7 Professional (usually a $200 + retail purchase). On attempting to install learned that you can't upgrade directly from Vista to Win 7 Pro. would have to perform a clean install. Too much work for me. Initiated online chat with Software Support Center. "Jane" indicated that "everything will be fine" and "I should just back everything up on an external hard drive and complete the installation because it's more secure than Win 7 Home." I didn't really plan on a clean install at this time and wanted to return software. "Jane" indicated I would have to contact the sales department at SoftwareCenterSupport. My Email was denied. Corny as it sounds if it looks too good to be true it probably is and there's no such thing as a free lunch. Caveat emptor prevails once again. Hopefully the fraud team at my bank can resolve this. I found TechWorldSavings through an ad on the PC Magazine website attached to an article by one of their regularly contributing experts about where to buy Win 7 at less than retail or even for free. Should have thought this whole thing through better. Techworldsavings and SoftwareSupportCenter list their address in downtown Manhattan, but low & behold I'm being charged by a company Q Cap out of Toronto Canada. Scam seems eerily similar to a scam email from a Nigerian prince. Lots of evil in the world today.
