He wrote to me asking if I would pretend to be a lost family member of his deceased client, Peter Reardon, and that Mr Reardon had died along with his wife and daughter. He had left 30 million pounds in a bank. This Mr Chris Middlebrook said that he as the lawyer, and cannot find any other family members and so that the government or bank members take the money, he wanted my help by pretending to be a lost relative. He gave me an address of a lawyer in Africa. We looked it up and there was a photo and the address was correct but the phone number and email address were different. It felt very strange to then we continued looking through the net and came across this scam suit which gave me all the information I was looking for to prove my hunch was correct. He kept telling me he wanted my confidence and that I was not ever to say his name and wanted my phone number to talk more about it all. The English was appealing which gave away the first hint, then his constant saying I want your confidence and that this cannot ever come back to his name of being the person who contacted me first when talking to the bank. Also, that we would go halves in the money after the 5% for repayments of the transaction was completed. These are the best warning signs I got.

  • So just wondering, with the amount of reparation you are seeking in your complaint (3,000,000), is this amount you lost or is this based on pain and suffering, and possible financial turmoil?
I''m only saying this as some people don't realize that claims like this can be counter claimed and in this case I believe it is a case of identity theft which if the offenders are found could lead to a defamation of character charge being laid and if proven correct, could lead to further prosecutions being made.
This exact same scam occurred to me with no money being provided to the other parties due to a lot of research and background checks being done I.e: phone numbers and email addresses not matching up.
I believe in a fair go that's why we are here but it also works both ways. I'm only posting as there is no reference to you providing any money to the scammers hence why I can't understand why you would claim so much. If that was the case, I would submit a claim for the same amount.
