I received an email from Maria Alexander via the Rescue Me website, a legitimate rescue group (I hope!) She said she had a Sphynx that needed rescue. She had me fill out a lengthy adoption questionnaire which took a lot of time. The next day she emailed that I had been "moved up to the #1 position" as an adopter. She then said that the adoption fee was $240 for TWO kitten, also to be delivered to my door or picked up at the closest airport. She asked me to wire $240 to a Carry Ann Meeker in Ohio.

What tipped me off that I had been scammed was that when I emailed several times asking for pictures, colors, names, & what their sex was, they never supplied the info or photos I requested. The descriptions kept changing; cat became kitten, one kitten became two, cat "Edith" was listed as male, then names became "Jelly Belly" & "Jemy".

When I Googled Maria Alexander I got nothing, but Carry Ann Meeker pulled up Scambook & a complaint. Several other animal lovers had succumbed to the same scam. What bothers me is they now have ALL my personal information!!! We let our guard down when it comes to our four legged babies so PLEASE check out the organization before sending money for adoption fees.
