I found this bogus software when I was trying to fix a problem I was having with my computer. Of course, the scan was free, but then I had to call a number to continue. I was told that in order to get help I'd have to pay $29.97 for the download, and then an additional $9.97 for tech. help. Calling that number (1-888-290-7758) got me "Dawn" who said she'd have to go into my computer (remote connection) to "fix" the problems - there were a lot that she claimed she'd found. Then I was conned into buying additional support - for a recurring annual fee of about $20/year. When I found that NOTHING was fixed, I then tried the tech. contact number (1-800-978-4501), and promptly got a very rude guy who demanded "CONTACT" by which he meant my phone number. He never called back.

NOW, I'm worried about the safety of my computer, and as my payment was made through PayPal, I'll be cancelling anything to do w/ the "recurring" charges.

My PayPal account shows a transaction with something called "SafeCart". SpeedMaxPc represents itself as associated with Microsoft. Further research shows no relationship with Microsoft whatsoever. The address for SpeedMaxPc shows that it is located at 46 Hughes Blvd, Hampton, ME, 04444.

Now, I'm out $39.94 total (I'll be cancelling the "recurring charges" through my PayPal account). I'll also be changing my PayPal password.

I have since had the problem fixed, by a truly competent computer tech. whose services I've used before. HE has now thoroughly scanned and cleaned out whatever was causing the problem. I have received NOTHING from either SpeedMaxPc, or SafeCart - whatever that is. I'd like my $39.94 refunded from SafeCart/SpeedMaxPc.

They are very clever in giving me a Product License Key (3C06F-90920-B2355-AFAD8), and all sorts of alleged links that I can access for further "help". I haven't used any of them. I am also concerned about the basic security of my entire computer, and I shall also be notifying LifeLock with whom I DO havve a legitimate agreement. THEN, I'd like them to STOP. I shall plan to delete the program entirely, before any further harm is done.
