I was forced to sign up with mytechhelp.com in order to have Verizon fios installed. Apparently Verizon doesn't install it's own service any more (why? Really what a lazy route for a company? Have customers get roped into a monthly service instead of employing their own install team!). After acknowledging that they would charge me 9.99 a month they said I could cancel before I was billed. But of course without 30 days passing im charged 9.99 for a full months service. After seeing my bank statement I called to cancel service immediately. As I check my bank statement today (2 days after I cancelled) I realized they charged me another 9.99 upon canceling. Probably for the absence of service they provided me 14 days after my first bill. I will never see that money again, but maybe this story can save you. Seems even if you cancel within the month you subscribed you will be charged, and they charge on 2nd regardless of how long you've been a member. Scam scam scam. Shame on them, shame on Verizon.

  • The problem is that you called an authorized retailer for Verizon, not their corporate sales department. I used to work for the company that sells this for them, it's called Clearlink and is located in Salt Lake City, UT.

There are sales quotas that have to be met so they force you to "attach" it to every sale.

It's unethical and deceitful and I no longer affiliate myself with that company because of their shady sales practices.

Don't be upset with My Tech Help or Verizon. Verizon actually just banned Clearlink from selling My Tech Help to their customers about a month ago. Clearlink stated that it wasn't because it was being sold without customer's permission, but I feel that might not really be the case. On a positive note, you can rest assured that if you ever need to call in and make changes to your FiOS services in the future, Clearlink will not be able to sign you up for this service anymore.

It's definitely Clearlink's fault for signing people up for the My Tech Help service without their general interest or sometimes without their permission.
