I was told in good faith, by a friend( who had been told by another friend who worked for the US Government) that the government was given a grant to help people out of work and in need of assistance up to $1000. If on the back of your social security card there are numbers in red, proceded by a red letter, you could telephone a lender or utility company and use the #124085024 as the routing number and the red numbers on the back of the social security card as the account number. You can enter the amount you own and it will be paid up to $1000. This is inaccurate and there were insuficient funds amount added to my bill. I was also anxious to help out others out of work. Needless to say, they had a problem too. Perhaps this was nieve or dumb of me, but I had been told for many years the there was money out there to help people with all kinds of issues if you searched for it. Also, I do not know it this amout of information can allow access to my social security number and therefore any of my accounts, pention, IRA, money markets etc. I called the social security office and I was told that this could not help someone to access my social security number. I don't know now if that is accurate. Please help with this. Thank you.

  • I would like to thank you for reporting this. I was just called by these people. The phone number that came up was 312-628-1271. He said he was in Washington DC, but the 312 area code is from Chicago. You helped me by reporting this. Thanks again.
