This company allows children who are not the phone account holders to spend large amounts. Please see below my complaint and the company response


On recent scrutiny of my family mobile phone bill, I noticed the
following charges for DADA

April 18.43
May 36.40
June 22.98

These relate to a telephone used by my 12 year old daughter, who has
little understanding of why these changes have been applied. I have
discussed this with your customer services team who explained the
process to me. Given that I am in fact the person who pays this bill,
I am not happy that you can solicit money from pre teenage children in
this manner without the permission of the account holder.

I am requesting a full refund of these transaction + the GST that they
have attracted.

Dear Customer,

First of all, the account for the number XXXXXXXXXX has been cancelled
as of 24/05/2012 and will receive no further charges from Waala.

In response to your concerns I have performed a check on the above
number. I apologies for the lengthy response but would like to answer
your request as fully as possible.

On the 30/03/20121 this number subscribed to our service. The
subscription was done by visiting our web site, submitting the phone
number and checking a box to state she/he had read the terms and
conditions.
Then a personal password was sent to the mobile phone; that same PIN
code was used to complete the process: in fact, our system requires the
correct code to be entered by the end-user as the only way for the
registration to take effect!
We communicate very clearly on the website that this service is only
available to users that are 18+ years of age we do not want minors to
subscribe to this service please let me stress this. This is clearly
stated not only in our terms and conditions:

"Subscription to the Waala Service can take place either through SMS or
via the Website. You can choose from a selection of Monophonic,
Polyphonic, Realtone or Fun Sound/Celebrity Sound Ringtones, Wallpapers
and J2ME games. The request for any item of content automatically
subscribes the user to the DADA service. In order to use the service
you must be 18+ years of age or have the bill payer’s permission."
Waala is a subscription service billed at $10 per week plus $5 Sign up.
Subscribers are entitled to download from our website up to 4 Premium
content includes Realtones and J2ME games a week. There is no limit on
the download of non-premium content during your subscription week.
