I received an unsolicited call from a person with a heavy Indian accent saying she was a technical person working with people who had Microsoft operating systems to remove a malicious malware that had been downloaded to my computer via online activity. After walking me through some steps to "prove" she had my computer number (incidently I have three computers and only checked one other one - it had the same supposedly unique number) she had me check for errors and warnings on my system. All of these were innocuous but time-consuming steps - viewing items only. Then another "technical support" guy came on the line and told me to type "run" into the search box so I could connect to the cloud that would eliminate the threat to my computer. He said I would retain control of my computer, and when I objected that I had no knowledge of what I would be connecting to and decided to end the call without running the command, he said my computer would fail and crash. Then I found this site with similar complaints. This is a total scam - don't fall for it!!
