I Went online looking for teacup yorkie within 100 miles of my zipcode. I found several teacup yorkies in the Albany area for free teacup yorkie, (AKC registered) and sent emails. I was contacted by d-kerry01 that she had two teacup yorkies and wanted to give them away. (Free!!!) They were not located in the Albany area, but were in Alabama. (I was looking to find a puppy that was somewhat local, and now it is all the way in Alabama and shipping was involved) All I had to pay was $110 for the shipping crate and that was it. Stupid me, fell for the scam and after she took the dog to Jet Pet to be shipped out, I was told it would be another $35 and the puppy would be delivered to my home that day. As instructed, I sent $145 via Western Union. A few hours later I was contacted by Jet Pet and was told the puppy missed the flight due to fact she needed to be checked to make sure she was healthy. Mind you, the puppy supposedly had a vets certificate of health. They told me she would be on an 8:45 a.m. flight the next morning. The next morning I rec'd an email saying she would fly out at 10:00 a.m. instead of 8:45 a.m. and arrive in Chicago, then on to Buffalo at 6:54 p.m. My friend phoned me about 2:30 in the afternoon that she looked online for Jet Pet and found complaints of other people being scammed by this fake outfit. About an hour and a half before she was supposed to arrive in Buffalo, I was emailed from a currier agent verifying my delivery address. I replied that it was correct. About an hour after that I was emailed by the same courier agent saying there was a problem with her shipping. A little after that I was emailed that she was being held in Chicago because they wanted $479 for puppy insurance of which $466 would be refunded upon delivery of the puppy. From this point on, the correspondence took a different tone. I was now the bad guy. At this point I was feeling very skeptical and heart broken. Every time I was about to give up, they would send another email. I forwarded the email to [email protected] and she began texting me. She said she wasn't told the puppy needed insurance to fly. Why would Jet Pet even allow her to send the puppy without insurance, especially if she has done this before and knew the insurance was part of the shipping process. I said I would not send the money and she said she would help me raise the money and that I needed to try very hard to come of with the rest. I was also told in the email from the courier agent that the puppy was now my responsibility and I had to send the money within 24 hours. I was not about to send any more money. d-kerry01 then told me she just rec'd a call that her sister was in an accident and she had to pay her sisters hospital bills. I called the Chicago Airport (O'Hare) and was told by customer service they weren't familiar with Jet pet. She referred me to an airline and they told me it was scam, which is what I thought. I texted d-kerry01 and told her I was on the phone with the airline and there was no Jet Pet. I have not heard from her since. I emailed her and the courier agent that I was going to report them to the proper authorities, which is what I am currently doing. This should not be permitted to happen to anyone else. I could be out $625 instead of $145 if I my friend hadn't checked online and found the scam complaints. I should have done research on this instead of jumping into it so quickly. When something seems to be too good to be true, it usually is. BEWARE of unconscionable people.
