I noticed today a charge for Reservation Rewards of $12 Canadian on my Visa Card. Not something that stands out, no excuse however as it has been going on for 12 months. First Charge was April 08/11. Fortunately there is a phone number associated with each charge. I called them and asked for the charge to be removed and how it started. They indicated I had purchased something from www.Tigerdirect.ca and had agreed to a $20 coupon on my checkout. This triggered the charge. I'm sure it goes a little deeper, however, $144 just cost Tiger Direct all of my future business.

- Same thing happened to me when I ordered an antenna from Tiger Direct. I reported this scam to CIBC. They said they will treat it an an "unauthorized" payment, but they will not filter it as a scam because some customers may actually want the service. This is diabolical if the banks don't have a way to deal with it and prevent it once it is known. It is like walking into a local electronics store and using your credit card to buy something, then a scam artist sees your financial information, uses it without your knowledge, and starts charging your card in a cleaver way that makes it appear legit. I am cancelling my CIBC VISA card outright to ensure that the charges stop on this and anything similar. My damages are 7 * $14 = $98.
