Not a scam, but a Consumer Rip-Off!
Do not use this company unless you want to pay too much.
During the snowstorm on Saturday, 2/18/12, our son was sideswiped by a driver
on I64 and slid into the ditch.
We drove from Richmond to pick him up.
While in Williamsburg on I64, we spoke to several police officers and firefighters about leaving his small pickup on the side of the highway.
They gave him a sticker to put on his car to avoid it getting towed.
The police told us NOT to try to pull his car out that night because it was too dangerous. They reassured us that his truck would be there the next day for us to tow out and for him to drive home with that sticker on his truck.
So we left his truck on the side of I64 and drove our son home.

The next day, Sunday 2/19, we drove another hour and a half back
to Williamsburg to pull his
truck out of the ditch on I64 and found that it had been TOWED.
Wilson's Towing charged us $200 that we did NOT have.
I find those fees OUTRAGEOUS and taking advantage of people during a snowstorm.
We talked to the owner and he refused to negotiate his price.
Other tow companies quoted us $75 on Saturday night, but
Wilson's charged $200, even with the police sticker on the car.

I feel Wilson's is one of those "rogue" towing services that prey
on consumer's bad luck. I called the State Police, they told me
it was a case of the night shift that didn't communicate with the day
shift, so they called a towing company. Wilson's claims he was
simply responding to the police report that a truck needed
to be towed from I64. We, the consumer, were caught in the middle while
both of them played hot potato with us. The State Police blamed the towing
company and the towing company blamed the police.

Wilson's was not required by law to tow my son's truck...
they just wanted to profit off my son's bad luck during
a fluke snowstorm that stranded thousands.

I called Wilson's Towing, they would not budge from the
price of $200...and did not want to negotiate.

We feel very ripped off considering we did everything
the police told us to do on Saturday night.
