I got my money back and here's my story...

I, too, signed up for this auction site. I was referred to it in July by someone who was supposedly selling an item on craigslist in Wisconsin. They said that it had just sold. They referred me to grabswag.com. They had won several and were selling them for extra income. I got the same reply for the same item on craigslist, this time from a different person (name). This experience occured in October while in Florida.

I won an outback merchandise card in August. At that time they asked for another credit card to pay the shipping because the original card used to pay the $99 was not working. This was very suspect. I never received the outback card.

In November, I finally contacted the original $99 credit card company to file a dispute. They gave me a temporary credit, researched the claim and made it a permanent credit in February.

Contact your credit card company with a dispute!!! This works if the dispute is started within 6 months of the charge. It may even go back further than 6 months. You have nothing to lose from calling your CC dispute representative. No one likes getting ripped off!!!!

  • Hi Sunsyn,

This is Michael Andrews, Chief Operating Officer of GrabSwag. First and foremost I would like to apologize for your experience on GrabSwag.

The sales email you received (craigslist) sounds like a 3rd party affiliate who was sending traffic to the site in order to receive a commission. We try extremely hard to weed out marketing tactics such as the ones you have described; but in our policing efforts, there are unfortunately situations such as yours that alert us in the first place. This is by no means an excuse, and we apologize again for this happening.

Grabwag is obviousy no longer in existence, but we are still happy to resolve any ongoing conflicts (regardless of how long ago it was). As you mentioned, your bank has a 6 month limit to file a dispute. This is actually a VISA stipulation, but most banks themselves are limited to 60 days as they tend to follow the rules of Regulation E.

I point this out because I would encourage anyone who has an unresolved issue to contact me directly so that I can work with you to resolve it. As long as your customer records can be verified, we can issue you a check in replacement for your refund.

    Thank you.

    Michael Andrews, Chief Operating Officer,
    GrabSwag.com
