I also received a check from the Nielsen Research Group, however, the check I received was drawn on Bremer Bank, National Association, which does exist and the routing # on the check is correct. The address on the check says it was sent from Century College, 3300 Century Avenue North, White Bear Lake, MN 55110, which also exists but the envelope all this came in was stamped "Canada" (huge red flag). I didn't lose any money with this scam because with all the scams going on out there these days, I don't just go and deposit any old check into my bank account! There were too many red flags to make me stop and check things out. So, naturally, I researched all of this first which is how I got to this page. I was not surprised to find that other people are receiving the same check and scam letter to "participate in a paid survey" as it is put on the letter that came with the check. Anyway, I knew it was a scam as soon as I saw the "pay to the order of" section of the check because they didn't even get my name right; in fact it was way off. This is also how I know that this was not sent to me by Nielsen. I have dealt with Nielsen before and they have my name on file and I have never had anything like this come to me from them. In fact, I think Nielsen should sue whoever these people are for putting the idea into people's heads that they are involved in false advertising! I called the number at the top of the page which says it's the number for Nielsen Research Group but got "this number is no longer in service." Then I tried calling the phone number given that you're supposed to call after completion of the survey and after about 6 rings a voice mail recording comes on and says "there is no more room on this mailbox for messages" and disconnects me. Ya know, receiving these types of scams at a time when I am in great need of money just pisses me off to no end that these people think they can mess with people like this!! I might need money right now but it is not worth losing my bank account and having it in the red or possibly closed on top of having to make up the amount of $2,400 to my bank!! NO WAY!!
