I purchased this vacation package for my son & I to take a vacation. It was explained that you could choose from about five different destinations or a cruise to the Bahamas. I wanted to go on the Florida/Orlando package & proceeded to make the arrangements. I did not have a credit card because of recent credit issues, but I did & do have 2 debit cards. They said I could not book that trip as you needed a valid credit card. I explained my situation but they didn't seem to care, they insisted that you needed a credit card to have when you checked into the hotel. So I picked another destination & they said that that destination was not in the package I had. But I know that when they were doing the "sales pitch", that destination was offered. So basically the only place that would work out would be the Orlando package. However the resort was far from the theme parks & there was no transportation back & forth to the parks. It would have cost me about $50.00 to go to & back from the park. I also wasn't informed that they only provided you a one day pass to the theme parks. I was understanding that you would have a free pass for each day of the four day trip.
All of this bothered me because the main reason I bought this package was because of the money I thought I would save.
I unfortunately was diagnosed with breast cancer & had to have several surgeries due to complications. I put the holiday on hold as I was sick with cancer & busy with radiation. Thank god after 11 surgeries, I was on the road to recovery. I decided to try to arrange for the trip we had not yet taken. I called Summer Bay & explained that I had been sick & unable to travel, just in case my time frame to use the package was up. When I told them where I wanted to go, the dates & whatever other information they needed, they told me that I could not go to that resort because I was not married. I never heard of this & became very angry, asking what difference it made if I was married or not. They just said that it was the rules. I do believe that this would be considered discrimination. So it seemed to me that both times I tried to book a trip, Summer Bay Resorts had a reason as to why I could not choose that destination. I am very frustrated, feel scammed & want my money back.
I did report them to the Better Business Bureau, but they were of no help. In fact Summer Bay Resorts wrote to them when I told them that I was going to report them. It was a very negative letter against me & they stated that my request for cancellation/refund of the package was denied.
