In mail today I received the following in a COSTCO envelope with Canadian post mark:
Check from AVANTI USA LTD, TONAWANDA, NEW YORK, 7844 for $3,980.00 of First Niagara Bank.
The letter dated Feb 28, 2012 came with it and was from Prize and award Presentation, Oxford Financial Group, 111 Broad Street Oxford UK 0X1 3AS, TEL: 1-289-892-0011and Intl: 011447031881017.Letter says I was one of 20 winners of the SHOPPERS SWEEPSTAKE LOTTERY who won a MEGA LOTTERY held on January 5th, 2012 drawn from United States, Canada and United Kingdom computer ballot system. Letter says I am entitled to $150000.00 from a $3 million dollar lottery but because they have not been able to reach me successfully they sent a check in the amount of $3980.00. This amount to be deducted from your winnings w/taxes due in the amount of $1995.00 to be paid directly to the tax agent. They also ask me to not use the check until I call them activate with claim number and urge me to keep it all confidential until the claim is processed. Claim agent is listed as Michael Dundas at number listed above and signed by a Lynn Wesley(Promotion Manager).
