A young girl came to my house saying she was a University student raising money for a trip. She was selling magazines so that she could raise money AND that the subscription would be for military hospitals. Since my Father, husband and son are all veterans, I thought in my own way, I was helping those brave men & women just a little. I asked why the subscription price was so high and was told it would cover the subscription price and trip cost. I chose a hospital where my subscription would go and gave the girl a check for 59.00.
I later found out from my daughter that the University group the girl said she was associated with was not selling magazines for any trip. I feel scammed but I also feel sad that my subscription would not be going to where I thought it would go.
