Followed up on ad for pet setting on craigs list dated 2/04/12. Civil engineer from Canada(Christina Sanchez/phone #301-364-4457),needed a pet setter for a month (Feb.27 to March 27)while she was in Austin Tx. on work assigment. She need some one to watch ziggy (a yorkie) 4 hours a day Mon. thru Fri.. She even asked for referances. After about 6 E mails she picks me to set her dog. Then she sends a cashiers check(bank in Calf./City National Bank) for the amt. of $1960.87. I'm to take out $400.00 for the first weeks pay and send the rest to Timothy Naumann,754 Bradford St.,Brooklyn,NY(pet store mgr.) for pet supplies that is being sent to my house for her dogs needs. She gave instructions to send wester union as soon as it cleared(banks take right away because its a chashiers check?).I send of the money and get a E mail that it has been reived and that the supplies will be sent to hotel now? I E mail back about when she wants me to watch dog and hear nothing from her. I call and no answer? I start checking dog setting scames on internet and even find the same same scame with all the same E mails that I got but from a civil engineer from London.

  • I also applied for a pet sitting ad on Craigslist and a few days later received an email from a Christina Sanchez who claims to be a civil engineer for a Turner Construction company in Canada. She said she chose me and would need my services May 30th to June 30th 2012, four hours a day Monday-Friday. She said she would pay $20.00 hr plus gas while she was in meetings and leaving her dog at a hotel on the Sacramento, CA area. She asked me to email her back if I was interested with my availability and she would send me a pic of the dog Ziggy. I emailed her back stating I was available but was weary of Craigslist scams and to please call me so we could discuss the details over the phone and not through email. I never received a response back email or phone call, so I started searching her on Google and found this site along with other complaints that this was a scam!! I am thankful the process never progressed as I read about the $$ scam. I am sorry for those who did get scamed, and I urge any others who have answered this ad to report it as well!!

  • Sethmeister, its a money laundering scam!! It just infuriated me so much that people are taking advantage of others misfortunes!! Cracks me up that Christina Sanchez...or whoever they are hired us both!! Glad to hear you were weary like me and googled it!! I also reported the ad to Craigslist, I just hope no one else gets scamed!! If they won't talk to you over the phone something is up!! People BEWARE!!

  • No not yet...WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT DEPOSIT IT OR CONTINUE WITH HER INSTRUCTIONS!! THEY ARE LAUNDERING MONEY AND BY THE TIME IT CLEARS UR ACCOUNT AND THE BANK REALIZES IT'S FAKE, THEY WILL HAVE THEIR MONEY AND U WILL BE OUT OF THE FULL AMOUNT OF THAT CHECK!!

I would go to your bank and show them the check and tell them how you searched the internet and found out it was a scam!! They may be able to trace it and get the police involved or at least point you in the right direction. If you don't want to go that far then just rip it up and toss in garbage!! I'm going to take mine to the bank and tell them about the scam!! JUST WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT TRY TO DEPOSIT IT!!

  • I didn't even find her ("her") through craigslist--I responded to an ad in the Chicago Reader that seemed more or less legitimate. Christina Sanchez is utilizing other outlets and it's very disconcerting.
