John Smiley of Smiley Brothers Plumbing/Heating and Home Improvement Did unauthorized work and is charging me for the services. John Smiley is not a stranger he is a relative of mine. He is my sons uncle. This makes it that much worse. He is not licensed.I purchased my home on 2-3-2012. All i needed was a washer dryer hook up. He charged me 1700.00. He then took it upon himself to go into my boiler rm called me while I was at work and told me my boiler was going to blow up .When I got home he then told me my water heater was no good and the items had to be replaced ASAP. Remember I just bought the house two days prior and it passed inspection with an FHA inspector. He told me he needed 5000.00 to purchase water tank and boiler. I told some friends my ordeal and they informed me that was way too much. I then asked him for receipts for the items he couldn't produce them. I then stopped payment on the 5000.00 check. He took apart a light switch in the basement he said wasn't hooked up to anything and said the wiring was hazardous. I told him to wait don't do anything else. Warning sign popped up. By the time I returned home all of the sockets and light switches were ripped out and I had 8 holes in my finished basement. He told me there were live wires and it could be a fire. I told him to fix the holes back he said he couldn't. He received 5,144.00 from and wanted to charge me 13.000.00. for the work he did and work that I didn't ask him to do. HE IS NOT LICENSED. I put in his license # and nothing comes up. Beware he is on CraigsList.
