I hired this contractor to remodel my house I recently purchased. He claimed himself as a licensed general contractor, but in reality he was working under another licensed contractor remodeling or even building a new houses from scratch, unbelievable!!! but unfortunately it happened.

This contractor is the worst can be, you just name it, very bad workmanship, not sober most of the time, thief, never paid sub contractors for their work, etc.. Most of the work he had done I had to redo or correct them, through other professionals, which it's cost me a fortune.
Before he stopped the work, he claimed his tools was stolen in other project site. I had no choice than to pay him another $5,000 for him to buy tools and continue the work, then he disappeared, I did found out from one of his worker it was insurance fraud.
If you are in Los Angeles County be very cautious when you meet this contractor, don't believe him if he says he has contractor license and give it to you, even though he knows by hart.

I did report all this problems to Contractor's Board, which they found him guilty and transferred the file to DA Office, and it's up to them to charge him, and also Contractor's board cite the licensed contractor who was allowing unlicensed person to work under his license a $1,000 fine and that will show in his record, so far that contractor didn't pay the fine, even though the due date is passed and he will get 2nd notice to pay the fine.
