I found Emerald Lux through a news story link on some website, I can't remember which. I assume now that it was an ad, although it appeared to be a real news story. I thought that the E-Cig would be a nice gift for my father, and that the low cost would be a great way for him to try it out. The ad for the product proudly stated that I would only be paying for the shipping cost. I ordered it and never saw anywhere that I was signing up to only use the product for 2 weeks, then I would be billed for the entire cost of it.

Needless to say I was quite surprised when 2 weeks later $109.95 was withdrawn from my bank account. In addition to this surprise it caused my account to be overdrawn! I immediately called the company and a very pleasant woman explained that I had agreed to the terms not once, but three times before placing my order. While on the phone with her I retraced my steps and scrutinized the website much more carefully. I was able, with her help, to find where I "agreed" with these terms. I told her that the withdrawal had caused my account to be overdrawn and she seem genuinely sorry, but only offered to refund me half of the full amount. I told her I would instead return the product, which I had not given to my father yet, and pay the $10 "disposal" fee, which she said they had to charge to dispose of a "personal use" item per the FDA or something.

I then called my bank and explained what happened and they agreed to forgive the fee for the overdraw. They also blocked the transaction for $110 from going through. So, I am not out the $110 but I did lose the shipping cost plus the amount to mail back the product which was never used, so it could be "disposed" of for $10.

The whole thing was very disappointing. I was truly excited to get the product and have my father try it out.
