We had a posting on craigslist for our tires we are selling. He said that he would send a check fedex and that we were to deposit it into our checking and withdraw the rest for the shipping comany. We were asking $700 for the tires and the check came and it was for $2,455! Why would anyone pay that much for tires? We haven't deposited the check. We wanted to put this info out there so no one else gets scammed. Here is all the info from him:

Hi John, Just an update to let you know that the payment was sent via FedEx with tracking # (**********) expected to have been delivered since yesterday... kindly take to your bank for deposit and wait for clearance which only takes 24hrs according to my financial institution and after that we could proceed with the pick-up arrangements so you can be rest assured... Also, I've been notified by the movers indicating the pick-up time and date with a detailed explanation from the coordinator regarding the movers fee and they made it clear that all payment should be made available to them via Western Union as a preferred payment method including a receipt confirmation prior to pick up.

Do let me know your schedule regarding pickup as i have other properties to be moved alongside.

Please act accordingly as agreed after deducting your money for the item, make the rest fund available to the movers via Western Union which could be done at any grocery store or any of their outlets near you and write back with the western union details below (as it is on the receipt) so i can forward to them as confirmation of payment prior to the pick up and they can schedule for it at your location .... Deduct the transfer charges from the remainder using (Money In Minutes) Option also $30 for yourself meant for any hassle or run around.

Hi John, I'm so sorry for the late response and delay in payment which ought to have gotten to you. My grandmother just died and i've been busy with the funeral arrangement. The payment has been mailed out and expected to be delivered Tuesday.. Would confirm necessary details and get back to you with the tracking number and the movers details ASAP. Sorry for any inconveniences and thanks for your understanding.

I'll contact my secretary so that payment will be issued out to you ....please i want you to consider the item sold and keep off other interested buyers that would make inquiry cos am ready for it's purchase. As i've let you know that pick up and mover's fee will be included in your payment, so upon cash of check, you'll make the pick up money payable to the movers and the movers would arrange an appropriate time for pick up at your location as i have other properties to be moved. I will keep you posted with the ups tracking number and the movers details. I believe this is based on trust.

My form of payment will be by Check and it will be send via UPS 1-2days delivery. I'll be responsible for the pick-up besides the movers/pick up money will be included with your payment so as to avoid delay and to enable movers to schedule an appropriate time for the pick-up at your location after the check is been cashed as I have other properties to be moved alongside yours. I would have really loved to come for the inspection but due to my work frame it just won't fit in my schedule but more pictures will be deeply appreciated.
