I have booked a flight from Boston to Vienna with Travel Agent Mike (ext.215) with the online travel agency "Way to fly”, Jan. 27th 2012, After agreeing to the price of 2 airline tickets ( $750.- roundtrip each) INCLUDING all fees and services I was being sent a contract by e-mail to sign. Still on the phone with the agent-waiting to receive the contract- I'm being told that there is another fee of $ 69.- each, charged by the airline (air canada) for airport security. The total would add up to $ 1638.-. I "signed" on my keyboard and returned the contract.
Checking my bank statement a few days later I noticed 3 charges.
Two charges for the airline tickets at $ 790.80.- and an agent fee of $ 390.58.- which would add up to a total of $ 1971.60.-
The amounts for the airline tickets as discussed over the phone were wrong and on top of that, which was never mentioned, I was being charged an outrageous agent fee of $ 390.58.- After numerous tries to get in touch with the agent and hours invested, I finally received a phone call from agent Mike. We discussed the false amounts and comparing it to my contract, there is a difference of $ 194.71.- which I would get reimbursed for. The amount on my contract that should have been charged to my credit card should have been $1776.89.-. It still does not add up to the original amount that I was given over the phone when I booked the flight. Now the agent told me that the airfares were $ 750.- each, but the airline service fee of $ 69.- had been applied 4 times. Explaining that the charge is for leaving the country as well as for coming back. It was NEVER disclosed to me, although I specifically asked for any additional fees. I originally agreed to paying the $69.- once for both fares, but I'm not willing to compensate for the extra charge.
Receiving my bank statement with completely different charges and the agent withholding information about ALL service fees is unacceptable. I’m aware that mistakes happen, but this was an unprofessional and deceitful way of doing business. I refuse to deal with such establishment and therefore ask to be reimbursed for all expenses. I hope my complaint and awareness of shady business practices will help prevent people from being taking advantage of in the future. Thank you for reading.
