I purchased a 20 piece Paula Dean cookware set at a Target Store in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Later that evening, while shopping at Wal-Mart I noticed the same item for $20.00 less. I went back to Target and pointed this out to the store manager and requested that he match the Wal-Mart price. He refused stating that Wal-Mart had not advertised their price in a local news paper. Thinking the guy misunderstood, I said, you don't understand this is not a "sale price" this is Wal-Mart's everyday price. Buyer be ware! Target engages in deceptive advertising practices. If you read their price matching policy it says, that Target will match any competitors advertised price. By "advertised price" they mean in a news paper or flyer, not an "in store" price. Now, any normal consumer would assume that "advertised price" means any "every day" price readily available to the public in store or not. Not so. Target splits hairs, and says no they mean a "news paper" advertisement. Since it is common knowledge that no store will match an item that is "on sale", why would any store advertise an item that is not "on sale" in a news paper? The reality is, Target does not price match. Don't believe me? Go to Wal-Mart and pick any item off the shelf. Make sure the item is not "on sale". Take a picture of the item or go to Wal-Mart online and find the item and print off a copy of the item. Take it to your local Target and ask them to match the price. It will not happen. On the other hand, Wal-Mart will match any in store price regardless of whether or not it has been printed in a news paper. Save yourself time and money, shop at Wal-Mart.
