Complaint 57723 Details

I received a letter from RedShift Research RE: Offer To Participate In A Paid Survey As A Customer Service Evaluator Ref.ID# KPF08130 along with a cashiers check for $1,450.00. Instructions were to deposit the check and, within 48 of the funds being available, pose as a potential customer sending money through Western Union and also to choose a selected retail store and purchase merchandise worth the allocated amount for the survey.
Upon completion of this assignment, call your Survey Coordinator at 1-416-893-2611 to verify completion of survey and to receive instructions needed to complete and fax questionaire sheet and all required receipts.

Breakdown of Enclosed Funds:
Participation Wage $300.00
Western Union Transaction funds $800.00
Western Union Service Fee charge $100.00
Retail Store (Best Buy, K-Mart or Walmart) $250.00
TOTAL $1,450.00

The check was returned NSF and I was charged $12.00 by my bank. (Could have been much worse!!!) But still, I don't much like the feeling of being scammed.
