in June of 2011 i hired this contractor Jorge Villa to do a large cement job in my back yard. he was to put in an 80' cement deck on my ground floor and a 19' X 20' off my kitchen. he was also supposed to install aluminum shutters under the top deck to enclose underneath. He was also supposed to repair cement damages around the back of the house. The cost of the entire job was $50,000. We gave him by the end of August $45,000 as he told us he needed more money so he can order the shutters. He completed the lower deck by the end of June and in the end of July started the metal framing for the upper deck. Weeks and weeks passed as i kept calling to see when he was coming to finish the upper deck. August came and so did severe rain storms which pushed the job now to the end of August into the beginning of September. He kept saying he will be here this day and never showed, and another day and never showed. Finally he came with one other worker to do this major job and the final result was a disaster. The upper deck has about 80% sand and 20% cement. I kept calling him to come and finish the job and to see what was going on with the shutters and he kept avoiding my calls. Finally I called and threatened to take him to court and he called and promised to come and give me back money. I have not spoken to him since. I now need to hire someone to redo the entire top "sand" deck, I have to hire someone else to complete the repairs
around the house and had to find a new contractor to come and install the shutters to enclose the downstairs and we paid him an additional $10,000 out of our pocket when we already paid Jorge Villa $8,000 for that same job. He now owes us $22,500 for the mess he created and the jobs not completed.
