I had received a phone call about being approved for a credit card, and being young (18) and naive I gave them my bank account information (Commerce Bank) so they can set my account up. Then at the end of the phone call the represenative said there would be a $299.99 activation fee, at that time I said that I didn't have that kind of money and said that I in no way wanted to receive the credit card and I also made it clear that I did not want them to charge my bank account because I didn't have the money and didn't want to participate. When I went to the bank later on that week I came to realize after depositing my paycheck into my account that my account had been overdrawn due to that company's charge of $299.99. My mother and I researched the name of the company and were unsuccessful in locating any information on it.
