I recieved a notification on Craigslist about a 55 inch Sony Bravia 3D HDTV. I inquired and asked what was wrong with it and why so cheap. I was sent pics of the tv and was told the asking price wasn't cheap, but "reasonable".

I don't think that my asking price is cheap. I think it's only reasonable. I will sell you the TV for $350 with everything in the pictures included, I will use 2 day delivery and allow you 5 days to inspect it. Shipping is on me. So, do we have a deal? At this point I need your name and address to start the deal."

Unfortunately, I said we have a deal. Then I got the fake Parcelforce info.

"Hi,

I sent the TV earlier today. The Parcel Force clerk said that they will inspect the TV and then send you the invoice. Please add [email protected] to your email address book in order to guarantee the delivery of their emails to your inbox."

I sent the money via Western Union Money Transfer to the "Parcelforce Agent" by the name of Zachery Hilbert. All I recieved was an invoice via email, with an invoice number. When I tracked it through the ca-parcelforce site it said it was to be delivered December1st at 1:00 pm EDT. It never came.

I emailed the fake customer department numerous times, no response. I emailed "Lindsey Livingston" numerous times, no response.

I even emailed the legitimate Parcelforce, no luck at all. If they were even real.

So I get ripped off. Just in time for the holidays.

  • The same thing nearly happened to me, except that I was pre-warned thanks to this post and others on this site. Details were: Lindsay Valentine posted an ipad 2, 64 GB for $300 on craigslist.com. She was listed as living in West Seattle but, in her email correspondence, stated she had just moved to Vancouver, BC.

    First email:
    > Hi, I am getting back to you regarding the 64GB 3G iPad2 from Craigslist
    >
    > My name is Lindsey and I am now in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
    > The ipad is still available and I hope you are still interested.
    > I am selling the ipad for $300 USD. I have attached some pics with it to this email.
    > About the ipad I can say it's in perfect shape. Included in the $300 price is everything that came with the ipad as new and also the warranty papers.
    > I tried to be as thorough as I could with the presentation so you can have all the info if you decide to go ahead and buy it. So what do you think? Do you want my ipad?
    >
    > Thanks,
    > Lindsey

I enquired about what she would suggest for shipping, and this email followed:

The ipad was bought in the US.
I was checking for a way to make the exchange from here to you in the US and I came across this option, which is a very good way to make this exchange.
It's provide by a company called Parcel Force and it will help us with this transaction.
They seem designed specifically for internet transactions, they handle both the payment and delivery part of this transaction. They seem pretty nice and trustworthy and they provide a service that we can use for our exchange.
The link below is from the Parcel Force website and it explains their procedure. Please check the link and the procedure and let me know if you agree to the terms.

    http://www.bc-parcelforce.com/en_language.internet.transactions/index.html

With this procedure Parcel Force will deliver the ipad to you, receive your payment and I will receive the payment for the ipad only after you instruct them to do so.
    I will pay the shipping.
Let me know if we can proceed.

    Thanks.

I received an email from a supposed Parcelforce using the agent name Zachary Hilbert. It was requested that I use Western Union to send a transfer to this person who was based in Bolton, UK.

After browsing horrible parcelforce reviews and then searching Lindsay's name online, I came across this review and others. I decided not to go through with the transaction. I guess some things just are too good to be true!
