I noticed an unexpected charge on my CC for a company I didn't recognize. I also checked with my wife and she didn't recognize the charge either.

I called my CC company to dispute. They called the vendor directly for me, and after a long wait, connected all three parties. They first asked me if I knew a Denise. No. I offered the name of my wife (mistake), but she luckily misunderstood and asked me about a different wrong name. No. They then gave me the wrong address. No. Finally she asked for my phone number. I did not offer it, but was told I needed to so they could find my charge. At this point my CC company told them to hang up.

Since my charge is still pending I have to actually wait a day for it to post, at which point I can dispute it and get the refund. They will also post a stop payment for any future charges from this company.

I did ask my CC company about not giving out my phone number. She did back me up on that and said it was the right thing to do.
