I have been contacted via e-mail about child modelling by UK Models when me and my wife have been looking for modelling agencies for our 3 years old daughter. I did not specifically approach them but saw an e-mail in my inbox about child modelling hence responded. I received a call back immediately from a lady called Saher from UK Models who also texted me saying they liked my daughter's picture and would like to invite us for free photo shoot to enhance her chances to get modelling opportunities and asked for £50 upfront which I paid.
The next day we went to Purespace studious with our daughter where they did her photo shoot and then we have been called to a room where photos have been shown on a slide show and presented us with three packages. the cheapest one was for £1500 where they would prepare a portfolio, a website and will help us finding jobs for her. They said we have to make a decision on the spot or else pictures will be discarded and make big false claims how lucky we are to be chosen for this rare opportunity which will open the doors for a successful career for our young daughter. We felt so pressurised by all this that we paid £1500. We have been given a CD of her pictures and a promise to send an album and a information CD how to proceed further.
In the information CD there are only links to copied online agencies who also charge registration fee and do not even offer decent modelling jobs; mostly unpaid jobs. The website is a basic website with selected few pictures of my daughter and a very basic photo album of selected pictures.
We feel we have been tricked into it with false promises and hopes.
