Warm Sands (aka Resort Billing International) called my wife's cell phone offering a 6day/5night vacation plus a 8day/7night bonus vacation for $999 plus MX tax ($1160.16 total). We said we were interested and were told they would email details immediately to sign and send back. Since we were out-of-town at the time we told them we would look at details and sign when we returned home and could read email. When we did return the next day we saw that the bonus week was not spelled out and that an additional $100 booking fee was required in order to book each vacation. So we immediately called the 1-800-903-1362 number (no person answered-just voicemail)and left a voicemail cancelling the vacation. We also called our credit card company to dispute the charge but were told it would have to appear on our bill before we could do that. Over the next few days we received "harassing" calls from Resort Billing International and an email stating that we had not fulfilled our "agreement" (signing and returning docs) and thus would forfeit the "bonus" vacation. Again I called the 1-800# and left another voicemail again cancelling the vacation and stating that I had disputed the charge with my credit card co. Two days later I got an email (very detailed and obviously pre-prepared by a lawyer) essentially telling me that I could not cancel the vacations and that my verbal credit card info was a contract even though I never signed and returned anything. This is now a true MEXICAN standoff-- I can't use the vacations without signing the docs agreeing to increased cost BUT I also can't cancel the billing (although I have tried twice, immediately and later, with Warm Springs and also the credit card co./dispute). I guess we will just have to wait and see if my Credit Card Protection promise means anything since as a consumer I HAVE NOT and WILL NOT get anything for the $1160.16 without signing an agreement to spend more with Warm Springs. AND if the CC Co. does not protect me from such a scam I guess I'll be writing another one of these about them. WARNING: WARM SANDS VACATIONS (aka Resort Billing International) IS A SCAM, or at least bait-and-switch, harassing, and nasty.
