I opened my computer yesterday and was stuck in a loop. I had a blue screen saying "HOMETOWN CABLE USERS ARE AT RISK" CALL 888-731-1354 PRESS 1. I called and the "tech" said I was at risk of my computer crashing due to a threat. Anthony, Agent #2830, said that he Premium Tech Support was a MICROSOFT AUTHORIZED TECH SUPPORT, and he would help me get rid of the virus/malware/spyware on my computer. He asked if he could have permission to go into my computer. I would have hung up the phone! UNFORTUNATELY, I DIDN'T. Anthony got into my computer and showed me a bunch of at risk sites saying my computer was about to crash. He said that it would be necessary for me to take my computer to Office Depot or Staples to have this breach of my computer fixed. It would cost me approximately $300+ dollars. At that time, I realized I had made a terrible mistake and asked Anthony if he was connected to Staples or Office Depot and this was a scam!!!! I am not out the $300, however, I am terrified that this SCAM COMPANY NOW HAS ALL MY PERSONAL INFORMATION AND MY IDENTITY!!!!! I am a caregiver to my 96 year old Mother who is not in good condition at all, and my 91 year old Father who is in a Memory Care Center due to his severe and deteriorating condition from Alzheimer's. I am terrified to use my computer due to so much information. I will be going to the store to get security, however I feel it may be too late. To purchase the #1 security system to install on my computer will cost approximately $99 and to have my own computer tech to install and tell me what to do now, will be $175.00!

Please note, I called the above phone # yesterday from my cell phone. They answered promptly. However, I called the same phone number last night and was not able to talk to anyone. I got a message "all techs are busy, please hold for the next available representative" This morning I called Premium Tech Services from a different phone and got an agent immediately. Please inform me as to what will be done. I am going to call the Florida Attorney General regarding this SCAM!
