I ordered a book offered for "free" called Aftershock - paid extra charges for overnight shipping. The book arrived 2 weeks later. Now 3 months later I started receiving bills on my credit card for $99, $99 and $49.
When I called I was put on hold or transferred to voicemail and received no return calls. Finally today I got thru, spoke with Luchia in customer service who said when I ordered the "free book" I opted in for the 3 news letters and I had to cancel in writing prior to 90 days after receiving the book. They were now billing for those news letters, hence the charges on my card.
Nowhere in their book offer was there any information regarding me opting in for the news letters or for me having to cancel a subscription (I did not ask for). This was simply a hostile attach on my credit card by Newmax.
In addition since ordering Aftershock, Newsmax sends me at least 3 emails per day. I have opted out on multiple occasions and called to opt out. All to no avail!
