I had not suffered any monetary damage. I stumbled upon this website looking for telescopes. I noticed that some of the telescopes listed were priced in a way that was too good to be true. I also noticed some of the smaller ticket items were priced way too high. Either somebody didn't do their research or this was surely a seedy operation. I signed up for an account using a fake name a fake address. I noticed a PayPal icon in the corner so if this were for sure I can use my PayPal account and the funds I have in it.
Shipping was a concern of mine as well so with my shopping cart full I was ready to proceed to find out what my final cost would be. I kept moving forward through the form. When he came to taxes and shipping it was all without charge. My final step was to choose my payment option. The only option was bank wire transfer. I preceded but without placing any bank information. The next thing I know my order was complete and I got the confirmation email with a fake account name and a bank linked in Indonesia. If it's too good to be true it is!!
Stay away from this website. Even with my not completing the form it seems that somebody is going to be out some money and the bank they somehow linked me too will be scammed. Either way someone gets hurt.
I would like to also add that I live in the United States and the address I gave for this purchase is also in the United States yet the website had no problem charging me in Euro after not giving them any official bank information whatsoever.
The dollar amount I was going to be taking for was $1874.00 but since I handled the transaction in Euro it came to 1422,28 €
