I advertised two rooms to Rent on Gumtree and Ernela Dervishi contacted me by text asking me to contact her via e-mail ([email protected]) with details of the rooms, which I did. There followed a couple more e-mails where she explained she was working in Canada on an off shore vessel doing some sort of study work and had only limited access to the internet, she also sent me the picture page of her passport so I could see what sort of person she looked like!! The last e-mail from her proceeded to assume that I had let the room to her and could I give her my PayPal details or bank account details so she could send payment for the rent and deposit and also my address so she could send her belongings to me ahead of her arrival (did she really think I was that stupid to give those details to a total stranger off the internet). When I received her first text and e-mail I was curious as I felt something wasn't quite right, so searched her name on Google, and lo and behold found all sorts of information from people who had a very similar story to tell, some have parted with money and some have not. Having found out this information at the beginning, was interested to see how this would evolve and was shocked and amazed at the audacity of this person. So thank you guys for posting your complaints on this site as it has given me the 'heads up'. I am now worried however, that the passport picture page I downloaded may have a virus attached to it or some other scam to access my computer, so now have to get it looked at....
