I needed to borrow money to help my son put a down payment on a used car. I (very stupidly) put my information online asking for a loan. They called me, said they could fund me for $3,000. and told me the amt. that the payments would be for 12 months to repay it. They asked me to verify that I had $300. in my bank acct. To verify this, they stayed on the cell phone (I lost A LOT of my minutes) and went to a CVS store and purchased a Green Dot MoneyPak for $300.00. He told me to scratch off the silver lining on the back, which I did, and read the numbers to him. Of course I feel stupid enough for falling for this, but I did! So, I lost my $300. plus the $4.95 CVS charged for the card. And, obviously, the card had no funds on it, because they took them immediately and I got no loan either. I am a poor woman. I can barely get together enough money monthly to pay my rent and other bills. But, we are, and have always been, hard working Americans. Please help. Believe me, I have learned a very valuable lesson. This scam has taken ALL of my grocery money for the month. I didn't need $3,000. I needed $1,000, but when it was offered and the monthly payment, although a longer term, the amt. was less. I figured I could use the extra amt. of money to see my doctor, get my med.'s filled and buy some things we've needed for a long time.
