Received a series of calls for my son who is in college. They would not leave a message and just kept calling back. Same soft-spoken fellow who is described in another post.
He said my son had been awarded a $9,000 government grant for school. Then he needed our address and asked for my son's birth date. I started asking questions about how we could get this without the government having our address?? He forgot about the birth date and told me to call the "customer care department" for verification....wouldn't we all LOVE to have a customer care department for the United States Government! I could tell it wasn't legit, and don't plan to take it any further. Looks like they are branching out to different types of scams.
