First let me say that I feel like a complete idiot, but I fell for the line. UTH contacted me by phone & reported that they have contracts with many ISP companies and therefore have access to slowed service to some computers serviced by those internet service providers. (Now that I'm writing this out I feel even more stupid!) My computer had slowed way down and I had over 6300 error events in the "Event Viewer". It took 3 hours for the "service" to be completed. I have since received two phone calls asking if I am pleased with the service. I argued for a while but was finally convinced to pay the fee. I got a call stating that if I tried to cancel the credit card transaction, it would cost me an additional $100.00. I don't really know what to do. I can suck it up for being dumb, but other people should learn from my mistake.

Update: 02/20/2014

All the UTH reps did was load two FREE apps onto my computer and let them run. One is called CCleaner & the other is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I could have done the same thing with directions to the url's for the apps.

Update: 03/15/2014

Follow up call from UTH during which I called their operation a "SCAM". Supposedly removing my name from any additional "Tech Support" from UTH. My credit card has not been charged the $177 yet, but I'm monitoring it closely.
